Home security systems and business systems

For a home, four to eight cameras usually covers the front door, driveway, back yard and side access, with a recorder holding two to four weeks of footage. For a business we plan around entrances, tills, stock areas and parking, and set up separate logins so staff see only what they need.

How an installation works

1. We walk the property with you, or review photos if that is easier, and agree where each camera goes and what it needs to see.
2. You get a written quote that lists every camera, the recorder, the cable and the labour, so nothing appears on the invoice later.
3. On the day, we run the cable, mount and aim each camera, and keep the runs tidy and hidden wherever the building allows.
4. We configure the recorder, label the channels, set recording schedules and check the night-time image on every camera.
5. Before we leave, we set up viewing on your phone and show you how to play back and export footage if you ever need it.

Common questions

How many cameras do I need?

Most homes need four to eight. Count the ways someone can reach the building: front door, driveway, back door, side gate. One camera per approach is usually better than several pointed at the same wide view.

How long is footage kept?

That depends on the hard drive and how many cameras are recording. A typical eight-camera system with a 2TB drive holds around three to four weeks before it records over the oldest footage.

Can I watch the cameras from my phone?

Yes. Every system we fit is set up for remote viewing on phones, tablets and computers, and we get it working on your own devices before we finish the job.

Do you fit equipment bought elsewhere?

We do, though we can rarely warranty hardware we did not supply. Where we supply the equipment ourselves, the cameras, the recorder and the workmanship are all covered by us.
